Installing a Vortex Valve™ on your 4-Bolt Stage 1 Harley is as easy as 1,2,3.
Step 1
Make sure the engine is off. Always wear gloves when working on machinery that is not running. Using a 1/4" Allen wrench we loosened and removed the bolt in the center of the air cleaner cover. Note: The end of the wrench had been dipped in wax to prevent denting or scratching the chrome. Then we carefully placed the air cleaner cover on a cloth.
Step 2
Next we removed the four 10mm bolts that hold the Stage 1 filter in place and removed the Stage 1 air filter. When you take the filter off it looks like the picture on the right
Step 3
Install the 4309-10CV Vortex Valve™ around the inside perimeter of the filter, with the flat side facing the engine, like the picture at the left. Make sure the bolt holes are accessible. Replace the filter and the bolts. Tighten. Replace the air filter cover and tighten the center bolt or screw. You are ready for the open road or wall-to-wall traffic with plenty of extra power and torque and response and great mileage too. Click here to see a 3-bolt Stage 1 install.
