Installing a Vortex Valve™ on your Peterbilt Cummins® 1985 is as easy as 1,2,3.
Step 1
Make sure the engine is off. Always wear gloves when working on machinery that is not running. 
We must remove the air intake duct where it meets the manifold. The section we must remove is cast-iron. It straddles the engine in the picture at the left. It has four 9/16" bolts on the end where it connects to the manifold. The first thing we do is loosen the 7/16" bolt on the upper clamp on the round (other) end of the air intake manifold.
On the 4-bolt end of the duct there may be a nozzle for starter fluid. It has to be disconnected. Remove the four 9/16" bolts and remove the air intake duct.
Step 2
When the air intake duct is removed it looks like this. We install an experimental 4309-8RXC Vortex Valve™in the opening that leads to the manifold like the picture at the right.
Step 3
Check to make sure the gasket for the connection is OK. Replace the air intake manifold, tighten the four 9/16" bolts, reconnect and tighten the starter fluid nozzle, if necessary. Tighten the top clamp on the round (other) end of the air duct. You are ready for the road or wall-to-wall traffic with plenty of extra power, torque and response and great mileage too.
